Welcome to

The Lowell Sportsmen’s Club

The following rules and forms can be picked up at the club during a regular monthly meeting,
or you can download and fill them out now.

1) Applicant info sheet; 2) Work service form; 3) Application

4) Lowell Sportsmen's club rules

There are several steps required to complete the membership application and indoctrination process:

(1) Membership Application Form: A Membership Application Form must be filled out by the applicant and signed by a sponsoring member who has been a member of the club for at least one year (see paragraph 2 below). Completed applications must be mailed to the Financial Secretary (at the club's address above) by the second Tuesday of the month so that a "first reading" (see paragraph 3 below) can be given at the regular membership meeting held that night. Your application must be accompanied by a check, money order, or cash for one hundred and eighty-five dollars ($185.00). This represents a onetime initiation fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) plus the first year's dues of ninety-five dollars ($95.00), and a onetime fee of forty dollars ($40.00) for work participation. If the application is not accepted, these monies will be returned.

(2) Sponsorship: The sponsoring member must be a member in good standing (dues paid up, etc.) for at least one year and be present at one of the readings. The applicant's name and sponsor's name will be read aloud to the body of members present at each reading.

(3) First Reading: Your application form will be read aloud to introduce you to the members at a regular club meeting held at the clubhouse on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:00 p.m. Your presence at this meeting is not required. You will be contacted by a member of the membership committee with further instructions.

(4) Orientation: You must attend an orientation meeting at the clubhouse at a time specified to you. At this meeting you will be given a thorough review of the remaining membership procedures, education in the operation of the club, and copies of the Standard Operating Procedures and Range Rules which govern the shooting facilities of the club.

(5) Second Reading: When the requirements listed above have been completed, you will be required to attend the next regular meeting which is held on the second Tuesday of the month as described above in paragraph 3. At that meeting your application will be presented to the members a second time, and there will be a vote for your acceptance of membership into the club. All individuals who are accepted at their second reading will then receive their membership cards. The membership committee is charged by the executive board with the administration of the procedures outlined above. Hopefully, all your questions will be answered in the orientation meeting, but if not, you may contact the membership committee chairperson or other club officers who will be identified to you and are listed in the club's newsletter.

(6) Work Participation: New applicants may either participate in four (4) hours of club related work activity or pay a onetime work fee. The tasks vary from assisting with clerical work, the general house and grounds committee projects, to assisting in the running of matches or other club functions. Such activities will be detailed at the orientation meeting. These activities may be performed prior to the second reading or anytime during the first year of membership. The applicant must pay an hourly fee in lieu of actual service which has been set at $40.00, an hourly rate of $10.00 per hour, payable prior to receipt of a membership card. This fee can be recouped after the service of four hours by the use of the Work/Service Form.

Note: Applications approved after October 1st will be credited towards the balance of the current year and the following year, for a total membership period of up to 15 months.
