LSC Events and Activities

NRA Training Programs

The Lowell Sportsmen's Club sponsors several NRA training programs. You can find the current training schedule on the LSC Class Schedule page.

The Lowell Sportsmen's Club sponsors several different kinds of events throughout the year.  No matter what shooting discipline you prefer, there is something for everyone at the Club.  If you are new to any of these events, there are always several members willing and available to help you out and show you the ropes!

Members looking to do open shooting at the indoor range or on the big bore range should consult the RSO schedule in the Members Area.

Do bear in mind that any of the scheduled events may be cancelled in the event of foul weather.

Friday Night Fun Shoot - Trap Shooting

LSC Members preparing for the 300-point gallery matchFriday Night Fun Shoot (Fall-Spring)

The Friday Night Fun Shoot typically runs from the Fall through the Spring each year during the regular pistol league season.  It began this year on November 5th and will continue through March, 2011.  Rich coordinates this event.

Practice starts at 7:00 p.m.  During this time, members can warm up and fire off several rounds and adjust their sights.  Members can shoot any rimfire or centerfire caliber (non-jacketed only!) allowed in the downstairs range during practice.

Matches start at 8:00 p.m. and are scored according to an NRA 300 point gallery match.  .22 rimfire is the only caliber allowed during the matches.  Firearms are normally loaded five rounds at a time.

The NRA 300 point gallery match consists of three stages of shooting: slow fire, timed fire, and rapid fire.

There is a $4.00 entry fee for the match, and prizes are awarded after everyone has had a chance to shoot.  Prizes are awarded to shooters at all levels so everyone has an equal chance of winning. Refreshments and food are also available for a small fee.

If you have never shot a target pistol, come down and find out what the fun shoot is all about!

The trap event features a "lucky target" that allows shooters to win free rounds of trap! The fields are normally open from early spring through November - weather permitting.
